Photographers often collect things. It’s not quite Pokemon Go, but collecting does get photographers out to places that they otherwise may not visit. Often, getting out and gathering new items for your collection leads to other photographs and experiences not linked to the initial theme.
One of my collections is modern churches, generally the more concrete, the better. I’m not at all religious, but admire the architectural risk taking often used in modern churches, and so I was pleased to add the magnificent Holy Redeemer church in San Cristóbal de la Laguna to my set on our visit to Tenerife in April.
Despite being in service, the church still appears to be under construction with fencing and building materials surrounding it. It may be tucked away between residential blocks and small business units, but it’s a fabulous design, especially the open roof and ‘windows’. While we couldn’t get in, you can see the wonderful interior here.
